The Hyena Family pin collection Pre-order store

Created by Henrieke

What is this? I recently ran a successfull crowdfunding campaign for pin designs of all four hyena species, and many other different wild animals. The campaign has ended, but this pre-order store is an opportunity for those who missed out to still pre-order any of the items that got funded by the campaign. How does it work? All new designs are available as hard enamel pins, and as waterproof stickers. There are also iron-on patches, stickersheets and prints, of both brand new and older designs. In addition, there are still several 'bonus stretch goals'. If the required minimum amount gets ordered, it will get made! If not, those who bought that item will get it refunded. The store will remain open until around mid to end of April. Payment and shipping Payment can only be done via credit card. Since this is a pre-order store, the shipping will get charged at a later point. Costs and fees for international mail are currently constantly fluctuating. Once the products are ready to ship, the best possible shipping methods and rates will get used. All orders are either being shipped from the EU (Netherlands or Austria) or from NY USA. I am located in the EU, but am working together with a partner-campaign in the US. Orders to the US, Canada and Mexico will get prepared by me, and then get sent via New York. The rates will be a bit higher than on EU orders, but you will not get hit by any unexpected US tariffs. Shipments that only contain stickers and prints can be sent directly by me as letter mail. The designs Click here to see all the designs that got requested and unlocked during the campaign! You can add one or multiple pins and stickers to your cart, and choose the design in the next step.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

STICKERS! The home stretch!
about 1 month ago – Tue, Feb 10, 2026 at 05:43:01 PM

Yay, we have not only unlocked the binturong, but reached 300 backers which means that ALL unlocked pin designs will be available as vinyl stickers!

If you're concerned about shipping costs, this is a way to still get some critters on a budget.
The numbers below really are just estimates, but I'll stay as close to it as possible- or lower!

The portrait stickers are around 7cm tall, and will have a semi-shiny background to emulate the patterns on the pins.
The full body stickers will be made of glossy white vinyl.
All of them are water- and weatherproof!

You can add the stickers to your pledge as add-ons already, and help unlock those last few designs.
I will make sure to update the preview images before I send out the surveys, so you have a better idea what your getting when you make your final pick.
Tons of earlier designs are available as well, maybe your favorite is already in there!

Here's an overview of everything that got unlocked so far, so you know what you can choose from.

As you can see, another new critter got added! The tayra, the 'wolverine-weasel' of the Amazon!

There will also be a stickersheet, which will be free for anyone who pledges for 2+ pins.

Also, I'm reminding you one last time of the BACKERKIT EXCLUSIVE items. This is your only chance to get these!

Challenge Coin Critters!

I'm ending this update by plugging this campaign for a very 2000s-vibe ITA bag. An ITA bag has a transparent window to display your pins, and this one fits laptops too. It ships domestically from both the EU and the US.
This campaign has a little way to go still, and for purely selfish reasons I would love to see these actually get made. So share it with anyone who'd like this!

New critter just dropped!

New critter just dropped!

And it's none other than...

...the kinkajou!

Thanks to a custom pin pledge, this pin is fully funded and available to order right now. Lucky you!
And... who's that above it?

Kinkajous live in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. They are most closely related to coatis and raccoons, but are often referred to with names that translate as monkey or lemur. They have prehensile tails which they use to grab branches when climbing around in the trees, which is completely unique for these type of animals!

There's only one other member of the carnivore family that has a prehensile tail, though they only use the very tip of it.
That is the binturong, which happens to be next on the roster to be unlocked!

We're also so close to reaching 300 backers! Once that goal gets reached, all unlocked pin designs will be available to order as vinyl stickers!

I'm still hoping we can make it all the way up to the seal, but let's see how far we get! Less than three days to go!

Look at 'em go!

PIN ART UPDATE! 5 days left!
about 1 month ago – Sat, Feb 07, 2026 at 09:05:35 AM

Hi all!

Time is flying! We're in the last week of the campaign.

I'm here with updated pin sketches for everything that got unlocked and most of what could still come!
All of the unlocked designs are available to order, and adding them to your pledge now will help to unlock the last few designs! Some people really want that harbor seal, you know.

Can't decide yet? It's no problem! The way backerkit works is that you can still easily alter your pledge until the campaign ends, and add on as many items from the add-on section as you like.
You don't have to choose your pins yet! This happens a little while after the campaign, when I send out backer surveys. I will also have more finished art at that time, as some of these designs are still very rough.

How to alter or add items to your pledge:

1) Go to your profile and click "Your pledges and Surveys"
2) Click "View pledge" next to the name of this campaign.
3) Click "Edit Pledge"
4) Here you can change your pledge level. An overview of all the pledge levels can be found here. New ones got added!
5) If you'd like to add more items from the add-on section, click "+Add additional items" right below. The overview of all add-ons can be found here.
6) Press 'Confirm your pledge'. Don't worry, you're only pledging once!

Now, on to an overview of everything that got unlocked in this campaign, and what's still left to come!

All the hyena-related items got unlocked!
I hope you love hyenas, but if they aren't your #1, there are now a whole bunch of other critters to choose from:

Since these are all unlocked, you don't actually have to back hyena pins specifically to get them!
With any of the 'X pins of choice' pledges you can pick from ANY unlocked pins.
Do make sure your pledge level still includes the green hyena freebie, if you were looking to grab that one!

I could offer a gold version of the African Canids set or other portrait pins, to match with the gold hyena set. Let me know if you're interested in these color variants, I'd need at least 10-20 people per pin design to make it viable.
If we reach 500 backers, ALL portrait pins will become available in gold!

Now, here's what we could still reach:

That binturong has a popcorn background, and I'd really love to make that! In fact, I'd be super happy if we make it all the way up to the seal! If you're interested in any of these, please consider pledging or adding to it, then it's definitely in reach!

If your favorite is not here and you REALLY want it, there are still slots available to pledge for a custom design! You get to choose the species, get a stack of these pins, and everyone will be able to order it as well.

Last but not least, there's the exclusive pins that will NOT be available after this campaign:

Go check out Challenge Coin Critters by Ken's Pin Hustle. Already did? Go look again! ALL of the stretch goals got unlocked and a whole bunch of new critters got added!
Just to name a few: Turkey vulture, crocodile, Coquerel's sifaka, shoebill..!
Plus, of course, aside from getting a free exclusive bonus pin from us, we might also be able to combine shipping. That will make a huge difference if you're backing me from the US, or CCC from the EU!

And since Ken's Pin Hustle is not only member but also supreme leader of PIN SAFARI, you only have to back ONE other campaign from this group of projects to get special large polaroid stickers from all three of us plus anyone else you back in Pin Safari!
There's 23 animal-themed campaigns to choose from, so go take a look!

These examples are just some personal favorties, but go find them in Pin Safari and check out the others too!

That's all for now!
Please help spread the word or pledge if you'd like to help the last few goals to get reached! Thank you so much.

Next species & pin pics!
about 2 months ago – Sun, Feb 01, 2026 at 07:10:52 AM

Oops, the full body maned wolf got un-unlocked again, so let's not celebrate too early. I'm sure we'll get and stay there though!

The species for the next three stretch goals after the lemurs are:
🥇 Binturong
🥈 Thylacine
🥉 Harbor seal

All of these would be a set of a portrait and a full body pin, if their respective goals get reached.
I will still consult the polls for potential future goals, but let's see how far we get first! 🦭

If you're really set on one specific animal that didn't make the cut, there's also still the custom pledge levels.

Pictures!
I got a few more photos of my pin sample! I will evaluate the colors once I have them in hand, but I'm happy with the quality. Hope you are as well!
The full size of this pin is 55mm (2.2 inch).

New stretch goals! And lemurs!
about 2 months ago – Thu, Jan 29, 2026 at 05:35:05 PM

Hi!

Though this and many other campaigns' funds fell back a little bit the past days, we're still past all our initial stretch goals and on the way to more!

The species of the first backer-voted pins have been locked in and will be... (drumroll)

  • Portrait pin: Fossa (Cryptoprocta ferox)
  • Portrait pin: Maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus)
  • Portrait pin set: Lemurs of Madagascar
      Crowned lemur (Eulemur coronatus)
      Golden bamboo lemur (Hapalemur aureus)
      Indri (Indri indri)
      Aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis)
  • Portrait pin set: African canids
      African wild dog (Lycaon pictus)
      Ethiopian wolf (Canis simensis)
      African golden wolf (Canis lupaster)
      Black-backed jackal (Lupulella mesomelas)

That's 10 new pins you will be able to order!
I will tell you more about all these incredible species later, as the artwork gets finished.

I not so secretly would love to make more, so I made a new set of stretch goals:

Some of these are very close to being unlocked already! Let's see how far we can get.
The backer-amount goals work a little differently, and unluck when a certain amount of people have pledged, rather than an amount being reached. I hope you like stickers!

For my beloved lemurs, I had the following idea that I'd love to make: Two full body crowned lemurs in front of the leaf of a traveler's palm.

Crowned lemurs belong to the genus Eulemur, 'brown lemurs', a name which doesn't do them justice at all.
(They're also called 'true lemurs', which is much better, but it does make me feel a bit sorry for the dozens of other lemurs.)
These twelve species are often quite colorful, with the males having competely different colors from the females.
They are:

Some of these, like the blue-eyed lemur, look close enough in facial shape and coat length that I could make limited color variants for them. With some others, like the white-fronted lemur, I'd have to cheat a little and use some screen printing around the ears to change the length of the fur, but it should still work. With some imagination I could even make ring-tailed lemurs, which belong to their own genus.

I don't expect to sell a lot of those variants, but you would make a few of my lemur-loving friends, who NEVER get to see merch of their favorite animals, very happy.

Think of the poor lemur-fans! (Or really, think of the lemurs, since all of these species range from vulnerable/endangered to critically endangered 😔)

Thanks as always for reading (and, you can still vote in the polls in my previous post)!

- Henrieke

PS: If you wish to vote, do it once for each poll. Don't vote multiple times! I can see this and will weed out duplicate votes.
As much as I root for all of these animals and am happy that you are passionate about your favorite, sadly, if I can't sell these pins, I can't afford to make them. So instead, getting others to back as well would be far more helpful!
